Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website or contact us about a project, how we use it, and what we will never do with it. We have kept it short and in plain language, because that is how we prefer to work.
We collect what you tell us so that we can answer you and quote your project accurately. We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not share it with anyone who is not helping us build your project.
I Who we are
Avonteer Inc. is a residential construction practice based in Manchester, Vermont, serving Southern Vermont and Westchester County, New York. When this policy says we, us, or our, it means Avonteer Inc.. When it says you, it means anyone visiting our website or contacting us.
By using this website or sending us an inquiry, you agree to the practices described here.
II What we collect
What you tell us
If you fill out our consultation form or write to us, you choose what to share. That usually includes:
- Your name, email address, and phone number if you provide one
- The town and state where the property is located
- What kind of project you are considering, its scope, and when you would like to begin
- Anything else you write in the message field
None of it is required except a name and an email address, which we need in order to reply.
What the website records
Like most websites, ours records basic technical information when you visit: your general location, the type of device and browser you are using, which pages you looked at, and where you arrived from. We use this only to understand whether the site is working and which projects people want to see. It is not tied to your name.
That measurement is done with Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, provided by the company that hosts this site. It uses no cookies, it does not follow you to other websites, and it builds no profile of you — which is why this site shows you no cookie banner. We also record a few things you do here rather than say: which kind of project you picked, how far through the form you got, and which projects you opened. We never send anything you typed — not your name, your email, the town, or your message. Those reach us only when you press send. If we ever add advertising tools, or anything that tracks you across other websites, we will update this policy before turning it on.
III How we use it
We use what you share for these purposes and no others:
- To answer your inquiry, usually within two business days
- To understand your project well enough to walk the property and prepare a fixed price
- To stay in touch about your project while it is under way
- To keep our own records of work we have quoted and completed
- To see how the website is being used, so we can improve it
- To meet a legal or insurance requirement when we are obliged to
We do not send marketing emails or newsletters. If that ever changes, it will be something you opt into, and every message will include a way to stop receiving them.
IV Who else sees it
We never sell or rent your information. We share it only in these situations:
- With the people building your project. Architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers sometimes need the property address and the details of the work in order to price or perform their part of it. We share only what that particular trade needs.
- With the services that run our business. Our email provider, website host, and accounting and project management software hold this information in the ordinary course of storing our correspondence and records.
- When the law requires it, or when we need to protect the safety, rights, or property of our clients, our crew, or ourselves.
- If the practice changes hands, our records would transfer with it. We would say so here first.
V Photography of your home
We are proud of our work and we like to show it. We will ask you before photographing your finished project for our portfolio, and we will not publish photographs of your home without your permission. Portfolio pages identify projects by name and town rather than by street address, and we do not publish the names of our clients unless they ask us to.
If you have given permission and later change your mind, write to us and we will take the photographs down.
VI How long we keep it
We keep project records for as long as we may need them, which is generally the life of the project plus the period our warranty, insurance, and tax obligations require. Inquiries that do not become projects are kept only as long as they are useful, and you are welcome to ask us to delete yours sooner.
VII Your choices
You can ask us at any time to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
- Stop contacting you
Write to hello@avonteer.com and we will take care of it. There is no form and no process; you are writing to the two people who run the practice.
VIII Keeping it safe
We take sensible precautions to protect your information, and we limit who can see it to the people who need it. No website or email system can promise perfect security, so please do not send us anything highly sensitive, such as financial account numbers or identification documents, through the website form. If we need something like that, we will arrange a secure way to send it.
IX Children
Our website is intended for adults considering construction work. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
X Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we will revise this page and update the effective date at the top. Material changes will be described plainly rather than buried.
